Up for sale is this packet of 20 metres of black shirring elastic.
Useful for all places where a very fine elastic is needed, from normal sewing to craft work etc….
Some suggested uses:
1) Smocking – Wind shirring elastic onto a bobbin of a sewing machine. Use a sewing thread in the needle, stitch parallel lines gathering the fabric for smocking by hand or by machine
2) Strengthening cuffs and welts in knitwear – thread through the ribbing on the hem or cuff of a knitted sweater to give the rib more elasticity
3) Gathering soft fabrics – gather in the fullness of the fabric on a sleeve or at the waist of a garment
